Mother and Dad took a month-long trip to India in December,
1974, coming back on the 21st.
They left me in charge. We were so glad to have them back
that we celebrated with a ham dinner. The car had
suffered a small breakdown which Ernie Wolfe had fixed by
disconnecting the pollution control device. The
dishwasher had broken. And just as they arrived home,

whole dinner on the table. But generally we managed, thanks
to our friends and neighbors. We went Christmas tree
shopping with the Wolfes; we had Sunday dinners with
the Morgans; and our neighbors invited us for several
dinners. I had a brand new driver's license so we
could go grocery and Christmas shopping.
