We celebrated Glen's birthday a month early.
Glen is demonstrating the Radio Shack Color Computer to Mother.
We purchased it in 1980 for $400 and upgraded it to 16K
(NOT Mb) memory
so Glen could do more stuff on it. It didn't have a
monitor; it was designed to use the TV for that.
Color monitors were pretty expensive. It didn't have
a floppy drive and used regular cassette tapes instead for
storage.
Glen and Keith and a friend of Keith's decided to
make an expedition to the Grand Canyon.
They took a 4-day weekend and back-packed down to the
river at the bottom and then back out.
On Memorial Day weekend Glen and Anne went camping
at Whitney Portal.
This is the beautiful waterfall at Whitney Portal.
Then we drove up to see the bristlecone pines.
This is Tree Alpha, the first discovered.
We went camping on July 4th weekend with Deb, Keith,
and David. All of us and our gear fit in the
yellow Chevette.
We camped in the Los Padres National Forest,
in the area north of Ojai. It is beautiful.
Another view from our campsite.
Dottie Hammaker joined our family in August when
she and Shelton got married.
Grandmother Norford came for the wedding.
Photographers compare cameras.
We drove to Albuquerque to share Christmas with
the Hlavas and Kimmels. Glen brought along the computer
to demo to Holly and Heather. We had to borrow a neighbor's TV to use
as a monitor, though, since the Hlavas don't
have a TV.
Uncle Johnny plays with the cat while Margie watches.
We drove back through snow in Flagstaff, AZ.
