Hawaii

We went with the Hlava/Kimmel contingent to the island of Kauai for 2 weeks. We spent one week in a condo on the beach in Hanalei and then another week in a condo in Lihue.

The view from our balcony.

Inside the Hlavas' condo.

Sarah liked the sand...

and the water.

She was body-surfing without even knowing how to swim. We had to watch her every minute.

Lisa liked the warm water, too.

Lisa made sand castles in the shade while Sarah took a nap.

Glen, Paul, and Holly went scuba diving.

This octopus crawled over Glen's hand and tried to steal his watch.

Here's their dive boat.

The girls were impressed with this frog in the pool-side bathroom.

This blowhole on the south side of the island is dramatic.

We saw these little chicks by the lodge at Waimea Canyon.

Now you know how pineapple grows.

And bananas.

And coconuts. This one was one of a number of painted coconuts lined up to delineate a driveway. It sprouted despite the paint.

Lisa's souvenir dress. She loved it. When she outgrew it, I had to make a larger one, following the same pattern.
