National Parks Vacation with Shelton, Dottie, and Family
We took a hike to see the falls at Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks.
Granddaddy brought his eclipse viewing equipment with him.
Sarah is looking at sunspots and taking a picture.
This is what she was viewing.
Then on January 2nd, we drove down the coast and picked San Onofre as
a suitable viewing location for the annular eclipse that would
be visible at sunset. Edison opened the gates for its parking lot
and allowed people to use it. Rich and Colleen joined us for this adventure.
Some of us hiked down the bluff to the tidepools while waiting for
the main event. Lisa collected some nice shells. We discovered
later that they were inhabited by hermit crabs!
Jenny drew in the sand and picked up rocks.

And here's the setting ring. It was much more spectacular in person.
To make more space in their room, we installed a bunk bed
for Jenny and Sarah. Kellye and Kate helped try it out.
We died Easter eggs and hunted for plastic ones at Oak County Park.
Jenny perched in one of the pepper trees.
So did some of the rest of the kids:

Jenny launches a stone into the creek at Lion Creek Campground,
where we picnicked with the Sweitzers.

And here it is in action.

Glen and Karl.
