Camp Sequoia

On January 17th at 5am a magnitude 6.8 earthquake rattled the San Fernando Valley. My office in Chatsworth, being just a few miles from the epicenter, was a mess to clean up. All of the books and papers had been dumped on the floor. We certainly felt it in Moorpark, but had no damage at our house.

This is the office library.

Block walls were down all over the valley.

The Kaiser Permanente Building in Granada Hills was severely damaged and was later taken down. This was not far from our former home on Hayvenhurst.

This is Anne's Model Development Working Group, formed to work on creating a computer program to estimate collateral damage from nuclear weapons. We met at various places around the country; this one is at Los Alamos.

Instead of going to dinner, three of us decided to take a peek at Bandaleer, the ancient Indian community not far from Los Alamos.

Glen made a balance beam for Sarah and she practiced doing cartwheels on it.

Jenny.

Lisa works on a plane with Granddaddy.

We drove up to the Condor Observation Point above Fillmore. The condors aren't here anymore, but it's still a neat drive (10 miles of dirt road) and a good place to hike.

Glen helps clear a couple of rocks from the road. He was going to just toss them over the side but I persuaded him to bring them home.

During wet winters, our local Arroyo Simi fills up. This is the Spring Road bridge.
