Several of us decided to explore Holcolm Valley,
which is about 1000 feet higher in elevation than
Big Bear (6500'). It was the site of a booming mining
community around the turn of the century.
The road is well-graded dirt.
Alan and Roger liked the rocks at this
gold mining site.
Alan was happy to run the dirt through his
fingers.
Roger had a great time taking 'pictures' with
Emily's camera. Once she finished the roll,
she let him pretend.
Unfortunately, we blew a tire as we pulled into
a parking spot. Glen had planned to replace the
tires in June anyway, but now he had to do it
just a little sooner. He swapped the tiny spare on
and gingerly drove back to the condo. Then he had
to drive down the mountain to find a place that was
still open and could put new tires on. He got to
WalMart in Apple Valley just 20 minutes before
they closed Sunday evening.
