They do a nice job decorating.
The boys loved the head hunters' hut.
You could go inside the hut and swing 'heads' on
sticks at the bats hanging from the ceiling.
Alan quickly located just the right pumpkin.
It took Roger a little longer to decide.
We decorated our front window. I drew the tree, Alan
hung ghosts, Roger painted the thunderclouds and lightning,
and Jenny did the moon.
Finally it was time to carve pumpkins. Roger and
Alan had been counting down the days. Keith and Kurt
joined us.
Alan and I did the lumina blanca together.
Alan decides on the placement of an ear.
Now he examines the finished result, eye-to-eye on the floor.

Alan also directed the carving of the bird and palm tree
from a stencil while
Roger did his himself, complete with freckles.

Jenny did one of her pumpkins with crazy math.
We then set it 'on fire' by stacking it on my flattish
pumpkin carved with flames. Glen did a scary emoticon,
based on the email signatures. Look at it sideways to
see the winking eye and big mouth with 2 teeth.
Here are some of them in the light.
Roger, Alan and I spent all afternoon on Halloween, decorating
under the garage door and in the yard. I missed having Jenny
there to help; she was at a band rehearsal, but the boys
and I managed to make a creditable display.
Old Bonaparte A. Wandrin made his second appearance this
year. It drizzled off and on all afternoon and evening.
As a result, our numbers were diminished to 145
trick-or-treaters. However, Roger and Alan had a great
time going around with two of Roger's new friends, Taylor
and Brandon, and Brandon's brother Ryan.
Ryan, Roger, Brandon, Alan, Taylor are all set to go.
Looking into the garage/witch's cave.
And here's the resident witch -- Anne, stirring
up eyeball stew with a handy bone.
Candy exchange.
Then on Saturday we had a small Halloween party.
Danny McGreevy, Alan and Roger all wore their costumes,
at least for dinner.
Laa-Laa/Alan likes popcorn.
Part of the menu included jello -- especially this
truly disturbing hand. It's strawberry-kiwi jello, with
2 drops of green food coloring and some evaporated milk
to make the color more realistic.
Glen called the candy corn Bingo game for us.
Meanwhile, Alan and Danny had a great time making
a track.
Roger built towers, and Danny knocked them down.
