Snow on May 4th

We watched the weather reports carefully and determined that a trip to Mt. Pinos would put us in snow again this year. It was beautifully uncrowded and covered with 8 to 12" of fresh snow.

On the drive up, we were surprised to see purple hills. A closer look revealed vast stretches of lupines with scattered poppies here and there.

Initially, the ground was very clear. We started wondering if we were crazy.

But then we got up to the 7000' level or so.

The closer to the top, the better it looked.

And there weren't very many other people at the top.

We got everyone bundled up, the inner-tube inflated, and headed for the nearby slopes. Alan is clutching his scaper-robot from his kid's meal at lunch.

There was still ice on the bushes and snow on the trees.

Glen decided to make a snowman. It ended up as a whole family project.
