Big Bear Get-Away for 25th Wedding Anniversary

Roger is actually swimming a few strokes!

Alan relaxes with a popsicle. The bandaid covers scratches from a fall on the stairs. The scratches weren't bad, but when he tried to scrape them off, we were afraid it would scar, so Lisa put the bandaid on. Then it became a project to convince him to let us soak it off later. Lisa finally succeeded. The bump on his forehead, though, scared us all. It swelled quickly, but ice controlled it and since he kept screaming at us, we figured he wasn't slipping into a coma.

The backing of the fabric covering the van's ceiling started to disintegrate, allowing the fabric to sag. It was beginning to hit Glen's head as he drove, so before we went on vacation, Glen read the service manual and took down the ceiling panel. We all helped to remove the old fabric, vacuum up the remnants of the old backing, and then glue on new fabric. The result is quite functional.

Alan is 'Purple Guy'. For the last month, purple has been his favorite color, so Lisa, Sarah and I have all taken turns buying him purple shirts and other purple objects, such as pacifiers, a cup, and a necklace. He has declared other favorites, too: the number 6, the letter A, the dinosaur Stegasaurus.

This is Alan's drawing of a purple car with trailer.

Lisa and her friend Jenn, went to the zoo to sketch.

One of Lisa's primary objectives at the zoo was to sketch the Channel Island Foxes for an animation project.

Lisa worked hard making a costume to wear at Anime Expo in Anaheim. A friend of hers, Eric, drove down from Oakland and then the two of them commuted to the Convention Center every day for the 4-day event. We barely saw them over the July 4th weekend.

Sarah left for Florida on July 2nd to visit with Uncle Roger and Aunt Carol, Sam, Tom, and Kelsey. Then she traveled with them to the reunion. On the way, they did a day trip up Kings Canyon. (CLC)

Lisa dressed as Mary, Queen of Schnapps for an Elizabethan-flavor murder mystery party at Ginny's house.

Jason Sweitzer stopped by briefly to visit before heading back to the UC Davis area.

Roger had a great time rough-housing with Jason.

Alan painted this suite of construction vehicles in August. He loves making roads in the sandbox and playing his Tonka computer games. He told me exactly which vehicles he was painting and even pointed out where the oil filter was on the frontloader.

Lisa took the boys on a hike to Rite-Aid for ice cream.

Here they are enjoying it on the sidewalk outside the store.

Happy 20th, Lisa! A few of her friends were still in town to help celebrate: Ginnie, Justin, and Natalie.

Lisa is still unwrapping her sewing machine, intended for the construction of anime costumes.
