Santa Barbara Zoo

We took Lisa and Sarah back to UCSB on January 4th. Lisa had a meeting to attend, but the rest of us went to the zoo for the afternoon.

The river otters are so entertaining when they're awake.

Mother and Dad both had to photograph the sea lions.

The elephant exhibit is undergoing renovation, so it's currently occupied by a Cat and a Deere, much to Alan's delight.

The boys liked this exhibit, a temporary one while the construction is in progress for the elephants. The elephants are housed at a different zoo until their home is ready for them.

Checking on the particular species of giraffe that lives here.

The giraffes share their space with a number of birds, including this East African Crowned Crane.

We also got to see this African Ground Hornbill get his dinner, a mouse.

Giraffes by moonlight (and sunlight).

This black-footed cat looks very cute, but is apparently quite ferocious, according to the sign.

The lions were very active this time.
