Jenny and Anne return home
Wendy, Steve, and Vanessa very kindly provided airport
transportation both from and to BWI. We had to leave the
house around 3:15 to make sure we had time to mail boxes
at the post office, pick up
Vanessa from daycare, and still get to the airport in
plenty of time. We were so successful that we had time
to check in and go through security twice and still have
plenty of time left at the gate. I had packed a couple of
tomahawks from Manistee days in one of the carry-ons.
The security people were not thrilled by the stones so
they sent us back to the United counter to check the bag.
The guy at the counter was rather amused and kept making
jokes with us.
So we made the gate with plenty of time to spare. But
then an afternoon thunderstorm blew up. This is our plane,
seen through the rain. It was pouring.
We boarded on time and then waited while the storm
finished.
When it was finally our turn to take-off, we could see
the line of planes behind us. The storm set our time-table back by
around 1/2 hour.
Jenny could see the freeways and such as we took off.
The clouds were spectacular.
Although it was midnight by the time we got home, Alan
wasn't too tired to play with the little glass castle
I had tucked in my purse for him. It was one of Mother's
fun things she had had in her china cabinet.
And both boys had to try out the train track right away.
