Grand Canyon

In the middle of a drought, we ended up under a major storm system for our side trip to the Grand Canyon.

We could just see the Colorado River at the bottom.

I think this is the Bright Angel Trail zigzagging down the side.

Patiently waiting for me to take my pictures.

Who needs a path when you have rocks?

Friendly squirrel, or beggar.

After all the signs, we finally saw a real deer.

Alan has a very special form of transportation.

Decorative log!

We tried to picnic, but finished eating in the car, due to rain. The raven was probably annoyed that we didn't leave anything for him.

The eastern end of the canyon. Several loops of the river are just barely visible.

The lightning may have started this fire. We spotted it on the way back to I-40 and then took this picture after getting back on the freeway.
