In the Park

Roger inveigled Jenny into playing ping-pong almost immediately upon arrival. Alan dragged over his chair to watch.

The back of 'our' cabin, number 6.

This lizard seemed to live under the cabin. Alan, Roger and I saw him hanging out on the stairs.

The front room of Cabin 6.

Lisa reads Mr. Popper's Penguin aloud.

Justine, Claudia, Kaitlynn, John Allen, Jenny, Lisa, and Scott play Hearts.

Sarah joins the Hearts group. They got up to as many as 11 players using 3 decks.

Jolien had Alan and his otter pops all figured out after the first 3 or 4. She would get out the purple ones for him from the freezer.

Roger gets on the harness for a try at the climbing wall.

This is his very first time trying the climb.

He's held by a rope to keep from falling. A staff member holds the other end and has it attached to her harness.

He made it about half-way before calling it quits and rappelling down. Then later in the week, he tried again with Jenny and made it all the way to the top!

Melonie braided both Jenny's and Kaitlynn's hair.

An after-dinner hike took several of us to Indian Point.

The boys loved this small island/rock.

We had to pause on the way back to throw a few pebbles in the stream exiting the lake.

Roger, Kaitlynn, Scott, Jenny, Sarah, Justine, and Claudia took over a table for dinner.

Phil leads campfire this evening.

Our camp director plays backgammon.

More Hearts: Gus, Priscilla, Nancy, Carl, Dave, Karen, and ??.

Roger learned a new game of solitaire.

Under Sarah's tutelage, Roger made 21 baskets, including this one.

Sarah, Kaitlynn, Glen, Roger, Alan, and I took a little exploratory hike up behind our cabin after dinner.

The old water tank is hiding up here.

And so was a small herd of cattle, including a bull with horns. We decided to turn around rather than pass them.

Alan was intriqued by these ducks.

On our way out to hike around the Park, we saw the same small herd of cows, this time near Camp Gaines, the next camp over around the lake. They weren't supposed to be here; the owner was contacted and must have removed them later.

Chuck and Jeanette's car had a problem with the radiator hoses and had to be towed to a repair shop.

We ate a number of meals as a family -- a first for us at Family Camp!

Bingo night. Patrick, Laura, Thomas, and Keaton joined us at our table.

Sarah, Jenny, and Roger choose to sit with some of the Leiers and Nancy. Jenny won a game and collected a tool set and flashlight as her prize.

Alan gets another number!

Alan built a Megablock tower in the nursery.

Roger hiked all the way around the lake with Kid's Club.

Meanwhile, I got to check out the flowers.

We were treated to a beautiful sunset our last night at camp.
