But they transported him to Simi Valley Hospital anyway
to check him out thoroughly.
Apparently the fire engine comes, too, on a 911 call.
We drove first to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks since that
was where the paramedics said they were taking him. Then he
got diverted to Simi enroute and it took awhile for us to
figure that out and catch up to him.
By the time we found him in the Emergency Room, he was looking fine, but
well-wired, just to make sure. I was highly amused when I asked if I
could take this picture. He pulled his own camera from his pocket and
asked me to take one with his, too. Lab results eventually determined
that no heart attack had occurred, but after consultation with Kaiser
people, they wanted him overnight for observation, so he was then transported
to Kaiser's hospital in Woodland Hills. A treadmill test in the morning
went very well. The final conclusion was that he probably had some sort of
muscle cramp in his chest from sitting too long at the table writing
Christmas cards. That mimicked heart pain, so he took a nitroglycerin
tablet. But that dilated his veins and allowed the blood to flow too
fast from his head, so he fainted. Granddaddy made extra sure he
did his walks after getting back from this odyssey. He even hiked down to
Target and Kohl's.
