Happenings at the Hlavas

We had been offered backyard space to pitch a tent, but after our car trouble delayed our arrival until midnight, it was wonderful to roll in and be given bedspace. Margie, Paul and Kitty had set it all up with a bedroom and a futon and the sofa in the living room. We shared their rental house next door with Jim and Mary Ann.

Roger enjoyed sleeping in the closet. He made it nest-like with his sleeping bag.

A roadrunner pair adopted Paul this year and allow him to provide food.

The woodpeckers are also much in evidence.

A lovely variety of yucca growing in the Hlavas' yard.

Alan noticed the face in the tree.

Jenny and Alan played computer games on the laptop.

Roger won the Midlife Crisis Game one evening.

Some of the cousins played minigolf before the big anniversary celebration.

Margie and Paul traditionally hold a 4th of July Potluck each year where not only do the guests bring food, but also fireworks.

Here are some of the fireworks, sorted and ready for the show.

One of their friends has a replica Civil War hand-held cannon that he fired off.

Paul set up a sawhorse in the front yard and watered the whole area down.

The audience sits on the other half of the lawn. Alan had a great time because Paul loaned him his ear protectors so the noise wouldn't overwhelm him.
