We also acquired Sarah Friday evening. She flew in to Hopkins to join us for the family reunion part of the trip and to help me out on the drive back across country.
One of the first things Glen did when we arrived at his
parents' house was to take a look at the sump pump and
clear the blockage that was keeping it from working right.
Grandpa let Roger practice his golf swing in the front yard.
And Grandpa and Glen took Roger to a driving range one
morning.
Grandma dug out some track she'd found at a garage sale.
Alan latched on to a box and decided to make a scroll-maker.
Grandma found him a dowel and I put holes in the designated
spots. He could then write something on a slip of paper and
roll it up and present the scroll to someone.
This is the first of 7 houses we looked at with a realtor,
Chris Olsen, on Saturday. The point of this exercise was to
see how easy it would be to find a home we liked at the
price we would be willing to pay and to get all of us
excited about the possible features we could afford.
Conclusion: for around $300-$370
there were several homes we would probably be happy with. Alan
really got into the game and subsequently wanted to tour
Aunt Laurie's and Grandma's basements.
We also checked out the Brecksville community amenities such as
the playground.
Brecksville has 3 pools: outdoor, indoor, and therapeutic.
And a game room.
Laurie and Rudy took us around Solon to get a feel for that
town. It, too, has a community pool and other amenities.
Glen plays at holding up the rock while on this short
trail to see the Chagrin River in Solon.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park is adjacent to Brecksville. In
fact, one of the homes we looked at had a gate in the backyard
that let one into park land.
We'd have to save the hike across the bridge for another day.
This water park is located within park boundaries. We figured
it must be temporarily closed because of the June flood damage.
