Cooper's Cottage and Extended Family

Much of the Cooper Extended Family gathered in the vicinity of the cottage. Aunt Beth, Steven, and Megan (Uncle John was traveling on business in Asterdam) drove in from Allentown, PA. Mom and Dad came from Brecksville. Laurie, Jennifer, and Stephanie came from Solon. Uncle Roger, Aunt Carol, Samantha, Tom, and Kelsey flew in from Florida. They also had a friend's wedding to attend the following weekend. Jerry was otherwise occupied with several graduations to attend.

Beth brought barbeque pork and accompaniments.

The old croquet set got a bit more use. I think I was told that these same mallets were thrown at each other by the Cooper boys.

Jen takes a shot.

Kelsey's turn.

Dad takes a moment to loosen a weed.

When we first arrived, Jenny and Sarah were invited to join Uncle Roger's crew (including Aunt Carol's sister and other relatives) on a trip to Put-In-Bay Island.

They took the ferry there and then rented a couple of golf carts for transportation.

We went to East Harbor State Park a couple of times.

Glen took the boys out pretty far, but this beach is so shallow that they could still stand easily.

Admiring the sand works.

Alan, Megan, and Roger hard at work.

Beth and Anne.

Back at the cottage, there was lots of visiting and fishing.

Steven.

Sarah enlightened us by reading from this book on the Enneagram. It's a way of understanding your personality and how to interact with each other.

Jenny got a bit of exercise.

We brought our screen tent with us and then left it at the cottage for future use. There are more bugs in Ohio than Ventura County.

Sam gracefully used her toes to unzip the door.

Sarah models Uncle Roger's old hat from college days.

Two boys staying at the neighboring house wanted to use yard space to throw a football. So Sarah said they could, but only if our crowd could play.

Huddling to plan the next play.

Uncle Roger loaded up a wagon of firewood.

Alan was excited about the fireflys. We collected a bunch in a jar. After the first night, Alan rang the bell each evening when it was dark to announce that it was time to catch fireflys.

Alan decided to make a firering for the next campfire.
