We stopped for lunch at Durant, Iowa.
It wasn't really by choice; the fan belt broke on I-80 and Glen
managed to drive the car to the nearest exit before it
overheated. As we pulled into a Sinclair station, the radiator
was boiling but no liquid was escaping. Glen asked if they
could fix it and as luck would have it, they directed him
2 blocks down the road to the Chevy dealership. While the
car cooled down, Glen walked to the dealership and started
the paperwork. The manager recommended a couple places in
this very small town for lunch so we walked there while
the car was fixed. It turned out that the tensioner had broken
which led to the demise of the belt. The manager even
tracked us down at lunch to explain his finding and get
approval to continue working. Roger was all set to
enjoy himself at a playplace like last year, but it took less than
2 hours to get us back on the road.
