Mt. Pinos

For our 29th wedding anniversary, we decided to drive up to Mt. Pinos and hike around. At 8300' elevation, it was a pleasant 70 degrees, in contrast to the heat at home.

Jenny escaped being in this picture by offering to take it.

We started off on the path we normally take when sledding in the winter.

The meadow looks odd without its white covering.

I have matching views of this meadow in the winter.

One of the sledding runs, with and without snow.

No, I didn't put those cones there. Some other pinecone lover must have.

Fires are a major no-no this summer, with the Zaca Fire to the west of us burning over 200,000 acres. So this firering is sprouting trees.

I think this decorative log resembles a dragon.

Lupine.

Glen carefully placed the rock there for background.

The parking lot was pretty empty, just a couple of other cars.

We ended up driving all the way back to Moorpark and having dinner at Szechwuan Garden. This sunset, as seen from near Mesa Verde Middle School, was beautiful.
