Snow Day

We drove north on the 23 over the mountains between Moorpark and Fillmore.

I love the way this road surprises you.

The hills are green after the January rains.

The rock quarry to the west of the road.

This ranch sits on a hairpin turn where Grimes Canyon Creek crosses the road.

A glimpse of the snow in the mountains. Orange orchards to the right.

Crossing the Santa Clara River into Fillmore. A bit more water than normal, but nowhere near flood stage.

There was snow near Pyramid Lake, a relatively low elevation.

Heading west out of Frazier Park, chains are required. You needn't have them on at this point, but you must have them with you.

Farther west and higher in elevation, snow is more prevalent.
