Now that we had an official address, it was time to get our
official Ohio State hunting licenses.

Studying the Drivers Handbook, I found this section:
"WHAT TO DO IN CASE YOU HIT A DEER
If you hit a deer and cause its death, you may take possession of the deer by
law, as long as you report the collision to a game protector or other law enforce-
ment officer within 24 hours. The protector or officer will then investigate and
issue a certificate entitling you to the carcass. It is illegal to take a deer carcass
without reporting it."
Deer wander through the yard periodically. This is the view
from the living room window.
The creek behind the house. It's not quite on our property, but the
owners of the $1.5-million house behind don't seem to pay
any attention to it. Our neighbor says he rarely sees anyone when
hiking along the creek. The creek crosses into The Cuyahoga Valley National Park just downstream past a few houses.
Skipping stones in the creek. This is several hundred feet
downstream from our house.
We have to cross the National Park and the Cuyahoga River
to get to the nearest Target store!
Glen removes a log that crossed the proposed tubing run down the
ravine slope.
Glen's new office.
This big toad (3"?) surprised me one evening in the garage.
And Jenny found this cute little guy in the yard.
A woodpecker was busy just down the hill by the creek.
Jenny is ready for her first cross-country trip back to UCSB.
We emptied our storage units by the end of September and swapped
in our larger refrigerator. The smaller one got moved to the
deck while we tried to figure out what to do with it. We actually
hired a crew to bring everything back to the house. Now all our
boxes are reunited and awaiting unpacking.
Glen called Chris Olsen to see if he could help move the fridge
off the deck. He also made of use of very handy ramps the Sweitzers
had given us as a house-warming gift.
Once down the steps, the guys rolled the fridge to the garage to
await final disposition.
This is one of 3 lakes owned by the Echo Hills homeowners club,
of which we are now members by virtue of moving to this
neighborhood.
This lake has a designated swim area and the Club hires a life
guard in the summer.
The dam between the silt pond and the swim lake.
The silt pond is currently drained so the silt and debris can
be cleared away.
Mom hosts a dinner to celebrate Jerry's visit Stateside.
Lisa's boss decided it would be fun to celebrate having the
catalog done by carving pumpkins at the office.

We've been buying a few pieces of furniture, including
a new sofa. This acquisition didn't go as planned, though.
They delivered a rather faulty article, with screws sticking
out because a piece was missing, and crumbs in the folds.
After seeing these pictures, they agreed to bring another one
and swap it out.
