Here we are at 514 Russell Ave, home of Grandmommy,
aka Mother, aka Jean Hubbell. Since I didn't go along, I have
no pictures of the Montgomery County Fair. I simply
dropped the kids off and then Mother and I went to dinner
together. The kids had fun, though, and came back with
prizes, even.
Here's Mother's living room in its natural state.
And here it is after the onslaught.
It also doubled as the bunk room at night. We had a slumber
party, watching the Olympics.
Anne and Mother.
Sarah and chris brought Confetti Eggs with them.
Mother got out a box of Legos that Dad had brought back
from Heathrow in 1969. We removed the dead batteries,
cleaned up the holder, and put new ones in. To our
delight, it worked! Alan was able to use the motor to
drive the little car around.
This corner of the living room is a small memorial for Dad.
The top of the piano display.
Wendy, Steve, and Vanessa came over. Wendy brought her
Fimo with her so some of us made beads or other tiny models.
Wendy, of course, had her tatting with her.
We all enjoyed Pizza Hut.
Mother gave us a tour, including The Gift Shop.
This is the ballroom. Also in this building are a pool,
bank, auditorium, sandwich shop, and other amenities.
The kids also spent a day (not photographed by me)
touring Smithsonian museums. I dropped them at the
Shady Grove Metro Station.
Sarah and Chris rented a car for 2 days so they
could drive up to Atlantic City.
On our last night of the trip, we went over to Wendy's
house and then to Friendly's for dinner. We had fun, but
the meal was a little crazy. Normally, Wendy and Steve
get absolutely wonderful service at this restaurant. This
time, the thermostat was too low, so I rummaged through the
van and found enough jackets and towels to keep our group
warm. Our waiter didn't get the orders right, and
multiple selections were unavailable.
Alan was pretty happy with the special blue kids' drink, though.
And Vanessa's ice cream met her criteria.
We got a kick out of using Mother's handicapped tag for
parking.
