On the Road Home

We drove south through Marietta, OH and crossed into West Virginia.

The Ohio River forms the border here.

The New River, along Route 60 (pre-rainy week).

Route 60 follows the contour of the land. There were places where you could see arrows indicating opposite curves.

Coal country.

The tracks run close to the river on both sides.

Arriving at the group of cottages. We had Cabins 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 9.

Roger liked the hammock out front.

We decided to move the patio furniture to the Florida Coopers' cabin and have communal dinners there.

Gathering for dinner.

Jenny perched on the cut-out for the stairs to the loft.

Uncle Roger took the lead in organizing what activities the group wanted to do.

After dinner entertainment.

Megan made a birthday poster for Tom, Kelsey, and Sam.

Lisa drove from Des Moines to WV, taking an overnight stop in Cincinnati to see the zoo and these 4 very cute tiger cubs. She arrived late Saturday night.

The next morning, she opened her suitcase with gifts.

Starting a campfire.

Roger and Alan invited their cousins to play GameCube.

Getting ready to take group pictures.

Roger and Carol got us all custom Reunion T-shirts.

A custom wordsearch puzzle for the occasion.

Apples to Apples.

John studies a moth that perched on Mom & Dad's cabin railing.

A stray cat takes a break. This mama cat had kittens hidden away in the woods that we'd discovered earlier in the week.

An interesting dragonfly.

Lisa models Glen's hat.

Carol mixes a large salad, big enough for our crowd of 25.

Alan created a sign-up for a GameCube tournament. He then got up on a chair to announce it and ask people to participate.

Marta signs up for the tournament.

Alan kept track of the players.

Jon was the big winner.

Carol collected pictures from all the cameras and assembled a slide show of the week to share on the last night.
