Glen was in Florida, so I packed the boys and stuff in the Subaru and
headed for Gaithersburg. I took along a turkey, Wendy brought over
homemade soup, and Mother acquired a variety of accompaniments for a
cooperative meal.
We had "John Hubbell Memorial Pie Slices" for dessert in memory of the time
Aunt Joyce asked Dad which kind he wanted of 7 choices, and he asked for
a sliver of each!
Apples-to-Apples, a favorite.
Alan and Vanessa made candy, including a set of 12 Days of Christmas medallions.
The next day, we headed for the attic to get down the Christmas decorations.
We spent the day transforming the villa for Christmas.
Wendy, Steve, and Vanessa came over to help.
Steve entertained Roger and Vanessa with silly video clips.
Vanessa set up the nativity on top of the piano.
This is the set Dad brought back from Bethlehem. He made the stable enclosure.
This ornament was always the first put on the tree when Mother was growing up.
Steve brought hats to share: this was my favorite. It plays music and the feet kick.
We celebrated Christmas early since we wouldn't be back on the actual day.
Further compressing the schedule, Mother and Wendy decided to celebrate my
birthday early, too. Vanessa shared her special birthday tiara.
Alan located several puzzles in the attic he wanted to try.
I repaired Mother's 12 Days necklace so she could enjoy it this season.
On Saturday, we switched venues to Wendy and Steve's home.
Alan did a bit of engineering to create this domino bridge.
Roger enjoys Uncle Steve's air hockey.
Their Christmas tree was beautiful all lit up.
