Mother had arranged for us to have a private showing
from Ken Jones of his model train layout. Asbury dedicated a room for the
trains and designed the outside as a train station.
It is truly magnificent. The boys listened as Ken pointed out
many of the details.

The 3-alarm blaze grows bigger as you watch.
Ken told us it took years for him to accumulate the materials
for this realistic junkyard.
He even incorporated the architectural model for one of
Asbury's building projects.
Be forewarned! - JM
Thank you, Ken! - JM
On our way out of the building, we stopped to chat with
these 'puzzling' ladies.
One of them had been a guide for the deaf at the Air & Space
Museum and gave us some interesting hints of things to look
for. She pointed out that Lincoln's hands in the Lincoln
Memorial are signing A and L. - JM
While I took Mother to the Gaithersburg Kaiser for a quick
routine blood test, the rest of the group hiked around
the Asbury Campus. - JM

Then lunch at the Lakeforest Mall. Dan's new objective is to
have pizza in all 50 states. This is Maryland pizza. - JM

The Gaithersburg Train Station is both a working station and
a museum.

These daffodils are picture-worthy.
We rounded out our expedition with a stop at Bruster's for
ice cream. - JM
It's delicious!
While eating ice cream, we spotted a herd of deer quietly
grazing just across the road from us.
It was still mid-afternoon, so John and Glen decided to
zip out 270 to Antietam while the rest of us relaxed back at
the villa. Those pictures are here.
We finished the day with a ham dinner.
