Michigan Roadtrip

The occasionally-held Case-Hubbell Family Reunion was held in Michigan on Crystal Lake in early August. The last one was in 1990 and Mother really wanted to attend this one. So she flew to Cleveland (first air travel since being so ill in 2009) and we (Mother, Anne, Sarah, Chris, Roger, and Alan) drove from here to Benzonia.

This was Chris's first time in Michigan, so we had to document the event at the Welcome Center.

We stopped for the night in Cadillac, MI. The motel was a modest one, but had just what we needed -- a claw machine, a pool, and a pizza place next door.

Sarah and Chris walked next door and got dinner for us.

The kids got one room and Mother and I took the connected handicapped-equipped room.

In the morning, we drove the rest of the way to Benzonia/Beulah and met up with Aunt Mary and Margie at the Cherry Hut.

Alan and Sarah had some cherryade. Cherry Hut has been a Case-family-owned business for many years.

Alan is solicitous of Grandmommy as we walk into the hotel in Beulah.

This hotel had a nice pool, too.

Alan decided to start swimming here.

We had breakfast at The Cherry Hut Sunday morning.

The cousins who run Cherry Hut.

We met up with Case cousins for Sunday afternoon tea at the home of Susan North in Benzonia.

The black walnut trees on their property were neat.

This grindstone behind their house dates back to early industry in the the town.

Crystal Lake public beach.

Margie and I ran out to McDonald's for takeout food which we then ate back at the hotel.
