Snow

December 6th: I drove Roger to the bus stop because we weren't confident the bus would be on time and I didn't want him standing out in the cold too long.

December 7th: waiting for Alan's bus.

Roger's bus driver let him off right by the driveway.

December 8th: more snow. Alan enjoys shoveling a bit while waiting for the bus.

Snow clinging to seed pods in the back yard.

I picked Alan up and we drove home via the park.

Chippewa Creek.

Tossing a snowball into the Cuyahoga river.

December 9th: Blue sky!

Glen's drip shield successfully diverts melting snow so we didn't end up with a icy patch on the front step.

December 10th: it's dark when Roger heads out to the bus.

December 13th: more snow.

Alan is shoveling yet more snow.

Glen tackles the snow with the new snowblower.

January 12th: A lot of snow, but no call to cancel school. Roger's bus came, perhaps 20 minutes late. Alan had plenty of time to shovel snow.

It snowed around 2 inches while we waited for Alan's bus. Finally, after well over an hour, I emailed the school and told them we were unilaterally declaring a snow day. The Superintendent later apologized for missing the call. I was glad when Roger made it back home, after an early dismissal to allow the buses extra time to make their afternoon routes.

Alan took some measurements later that afternoon. We got an additional 4" by the garage after Glen cleared it.

An additional 6" on the sidewalk.

14" on the deck.

19" on the tree lawn.

Alan made a cave in the snowpile by the mailbox.

January 31st: I had my camera with me for a drive to the grocery store. Crossing the Cuyahoga River, I just had to pull over and capture this winter wonderland. It was a very localized effect, and it had melted by the time I was driving back home.

February 2nd: Ice. 1/2" all over everything.

The driveway was a solid sheet of ice. We chipped away at it with a spade.

February 6th: The boys helped shovel while Glen was out of town.

February 13th: Roger and Alan worked on a sled run down the hill in the back yard.

February 22nd: Roger's footprints heading to the bus stop.

The trees sparkled in the sunlight.

February 25th: More snow.

March 11th: This snow stuck to all surfaces, not just the horizontal ones.

Alan is once again shoveling while waiting for a bus.

This robin wishes it was Spring!
