Birds & Snow

Cousins Visit

Roger's Birthday

Lisa's Visit

Graduation Trip

Alan and I made pie to share with his class on Pi Day, 3-14.

It might be Spring!

Cherry tree in front.

The apricot tree bloomed.

Rhubarb seems healthy.

Alan discovered Jenny's ice cream ball and made some special recipes.

Woodpecker in back -- this guy frequently goes after the trim on the house instead of the trees.

Alan entered "Magic Rider" in the Students in the Arts competition at school. He's carrying both a sword and a magic orb.

We spotted a blue bird on Sentinel.

Alan's next culinary adventure was to make bread from scratch.

For his second batch, he choose a loaf pan.

Much to my surprise, this hawk landed under the pine trees in front.

A week or so later, perhaps the same hawk stopped on our deck.

I took these pictures to the Brecksville Nature Center. The rangers there are pretty sure it was a juvenile red-tailed hawk.

Poised for lift-off.

Roger spotted this frog in the grass. He encouraged it to move out of the grassy danger zone.

Beth drove in from Allentown to visit with her parents for Mother's Day. A gathering for dinner was in order.

Glen and I took a hike along the Cuyahoga River.

Alan rescued a little frog from the grass before Glen mowed, and then he found a bigger one near the campfire. They're both in this picture.

The larger frog poses on some moss.

We got a set of nasty thunderstorms in late May, two of which produced funnel clouds not too far from us, and one that dropped hail. Some hailstones were as big in diameter as a quarter.

We picked up the anticipated seckel pear tree from the nursery. It bloomed and actually produced a small pear!

Glen got permission from our neighbor, Ralph, to salvage any wood we wanted from the downed tree in the lower section of his yard.

It's beautiful oak wood; Glen cut 2 lengths for benches, and some smaller bits for use in the smoker.

While working on that, we spotted some wildflowers.

Jack-in-the-pulpit and ?? blue flowers.

Our front yard provided a banquet after Glen mowed.

My foxglove that I grew from seed finally bloomed after a couple of years.

Harebells -- reportedly Queen Elizabeth I's favorite flower, so of course I wanted my own.

The Blue-eyed grass is thriving. I first found this plant as a teenager on the school playground and transplanted it home. Years later I moved a clump to Moorpark from Rocking Horse Rd, and thence to Brecksville.

A bee was busy pollinating the grass, even upside-down.

Glen is constructing a dock for the Cottage. The first step was to purchase the lumber.

Roger collected an award for making Honor Roll all year!

Alan and Mrs. Dean. The end of the school year.

End-of-year bonfire in Echo Hills. Alan tossed in a couple sheets of paper, but some kids brought bags of school papers to ceremoniously cremate.

Some of us played frisbee on the field.

Roger enjoyed playing Newcomb at the volleyball court.

Roger in mid-air!

Alan made sand models of the White House and the Capitol.
