One of the trees supporting the swings died last year, so it needed to be taken down before it came down in an unfortunate way.

Glen tied a rope around it above where the swing support had been. He then tried tugging on it to see what might happen and the tree just cracked off and came down. Yes, he did it safely using a pulley and backing off at an angle and a safe distance.

Glen taking the swing support down.

While I was in Salt Lake City, Glen took down the remainder of the large dead tree trunk in the lower yard.

It fell somewhat explosively, and sent pieces flying as far as the creek.

What's left of the tree Glen's been salvaging from our neighbor's lower yard.

Some of the salvaged wood.

Alan started taking a ceramics class at the Brecksville Center for the Arts.

A volunteer in the front yard.

Celebrating Glen's birthday, sans cake but not candle.

Alan finished the 3D Capitol puzzle.

Glen tries out a new tool on some of the salvaged oak.

A bowl shape!

Just for fun, with no expectation of real success, we tried a bit of gold panning in the creek. Alan made the obligatory dam.

Glen tries his new sander on the log bench.

Alan decided to try his hand at doughnuts.

They were tasty.

Alan is determined to finish the 3D Millenium Falcon this time.

He did it!

'Our' red-tailed hawk landed on the neighbor's gutter.

And then he flew over to our grass.

Alan's ceramic turtle project.

"They call me 'Tim' ". Also by Alan in ceramics class.

Glazed but not yet fired ceramics.

Alan's set of ducks.

Jon and Jerry brought their devices over to access the net.

At the same time, we had a sofa-ful of people also using electronics. I was amused.

Our yard sprouts colorful mushrooms at times.

We have a blueberry!

Alan accepts a bit of help from David assembling his Lego podracers.

The finished podracers.

Dinner out with family, lots of family. We enjoyed a buffet that specializes in seafood.

Playing with fusebeads.

Sarah went home on the 17th of August.

David and Jenny headed back to New Jersey on the 18th.

They then flew back to CA with David's mother and sister (Shelly and Lauren) for more visiting with extended family there. This group includes David's grandmother.
