Mother's Visit

After Mother and I attended the Hubbell Family reunion in Salt Lake City, she traveled back to Ohio with me for a relaxing visit in Brecksville.

Alan lights a campfire in the backyard.

He then stood guard with a super soaker to catch stray sparks.

Roger demonstrates a parry with his marshmallow stick.

Umm -- smores!

Alan continued laying rocks around the fire pit.

Mother practices balancing on the log.

Alan makes bread.

The finished result: a dessert bread with orange juice and chocolate chips.

Glen tries out his new saw attachment to carve a bowl shape.

Mother appreciated the sentiment on Roger's shirt.

Glen's parents joined us for dinner. The weather was perfect for eating outside.

We watched the International Space Station go by late one evening. It was clearly visible, even without a telescope.

Glen's parents invited us all to the Cottage for a day.

They treated us to a lovely steak dinner.

Glen finished making a new dock while we'd been in SLC.

Now that there's an inviting way to get in the water, Alan and I went for a swim.

Glen took out the boat, after replacing an oarlock.

We detoured by East Harbor on the way home, as a nostalgia trip. Mother and Dad had stopped here to camp on the first night of several long family road trips in the 60's and 70's.

The Perry Monument.

A freighter was visible in the distance.

Ducks in the wetland behind the beach.

We went to the Blatniks' home for 4th of July.

Traditional round of croquet while waiting for dark.
