We gathered at the restaurant adjoining the hotel for dinner that night.
Seated here are Glenn, Kitty, Anne, Jim, Mary Ann, Hilbert Hubble, Barbara Kruse,
Aunt Mary, Jean, Gerry, and Beth.
The view south from our 8th-floor room at the Plaza.
The next morning (Wednesday) we saw the Kotulas at breakfast before Paul had
to head for the airport to go back to work. He'd done the roadtrip north with the
Hlava clan.
We gathered in the hospitality room at the hotel in between expeditions.
Glenn Kimmel.
Wilson Hubbell lives near Santa Barbara.
Mary Ann found a wicked 1000-piece SLC puzzle to entertain us.
Kitty.
The seniors of the Howard Adams Hubbell (HAH) group: Mother, Aunt Marge, and Aunt Mary.
Barbara Kruse joins them.
Gerry brought along his very portable beading project.
It's called brickwork because of the way the beads stack together. He's
working with extremely tiny beads, so my camera could see them better than I could!
Aunt Mary and Paul Hlava.
Eric helped entertain Alison, Rhys, and Ky.
Margie.
Paul examines Laura's set of 3 different 'flavors' of ten-dollar bills.
Jim got out his pocketknife to cut off Mother's wristband from 'This is The Place'.
Gerry profers his wrist to his brother with some feigned trepidation to get his
band hacked off, too.
Mary Ann leads a discussion of how to self-publish a book.

We (maybe 25 Hubbells?) decided to go to the Lion House Pantry for dinner on
Wednesday. This is the entrance with the signature lion over the doorway.

We went in the side entrance, though, to the basement where the
restaurant is.
We walked back to the hotel through the Temple Square gardens.
Friday night Mother, Aunt Marge, Gerry, and I ventured out to
Lamb's Cafe on a recommendation from Katy's husband Ty.
It was an excellent choice. The restaurant is one of the oldest in SLC and
the staff were very friendly.
We finished the puzzle!
Mary Ann and Laura put the finishing touches on the table favors for the banquet.
Mary Ann had special ordered 'Hubbell Berry Jam' for us.
The lobby of the Hotel Utah, now the Joseph Smith Building. We had our formal
banquet on the 9th floor.
The horse carriages are lit at night.
Breakfast Sunday morning - last chance to see most of the cousins.
They filled up the hotel shuttle van to head to the airport.
Mother and I wouldn't leave until Monday; we'd added a day in hopes we'd be
able to get out to Logan to see Jim and Mary Ann's place.
Mother and I checked out Monday morning and went next door to see what all the
fuss was about at the Genealogical Library.
We saw a video presentation and peeked in a couple of rooms at the rows of
computers. There is a totally amazing amount of info available here.
Heading up and out of SLC: the view of the flooded wetlands and lake from the plane.
Antelope Island. The Hlavas drove out to this island via the causeway. It
is inhabited with bison and birds.
The Wasatch Mountains east of Salt Lake City.
The ribbon of road is Route 84, cutting through the mountains.
