1st day of December, so it's time to start the Advent calendars. Roger picked the one Lisa made, and was surprised by the Lego one that promised a Wizard figure.

Alan chose the traditional calendar Mother made for Glen and Anne when we first moved to California, and was excited to receive the Star Wars Lego set.

Roger helped Glen put string after string of lights in the oak tree.

Lisa arrives on December 18th. As usual, she brought an interesting selection of books with her.

This time Lisa also brought seasonal treats: chocolate, tea, and hot cocoa.

Glen tries the apple corer. We'd driven to Amish country in a vain attempt to pick up our shelves, but succeeded in acquiring 4 half-bushel bags of Jonagold apples for just 25 ¢/lb!

Sarah arrived on the 19th, and Jenny and David rolled in from NJ on the 21st. They played some Wii golf while the kids were in the other room adventuring....

Dungeons & Dragons. Alan and Lisa were co-DMs.

Jackson, Savannah, Emery, Everett, and Roger were the players.

The adults enjoyed Ticket-to-Ride. We played teams, and team Sarah/Anne won!

A bit of Wii.

A bit of Life.

The new shelves were delivered on Christmas Eve. These are the custom-built ones we'd ordered in October.

It's snowing! This is on the 27th of December. (Christmas pictures are here.)

Alan, Sarah, and Chris step bravely outside.

The flakes were huge!

Lisa made attractive fruit plates for dinner.

Sloppy joe dinner.

Glen's new game of Dominion, gift from Jenny & David.

Trying the new Portal cookie cutters, Lisa's gift to Alan (to go along with the game).

Got to get the right effect.

Nice view of the sunset (1-5-12) from the back door.

Anne's birthday -- Glen made an angel food cake.

Snow on the 13th!

Board Game Club on February 8th. Roger enjoyed a game of Risk.

Others played Carcassonne.

Jackson and Robert play a 2-person variation of Apples-to-Apples.

Alan and Everett enjoy a Lord of the Rings version of Risk.

Alan blends a custom tea from the varieties Lisa sent as his birthday gift.

Mmmm... Alan used his 'Giant Mug' he made in ceramics.

This hawk is probably another juvenile red-tailed hawk that landed in front right by the window. By the time I grabbed the camera, he was winging out by the garage.

Even though we were 2600 miles away from Jenny on her birthday, we decided to make her a cake. Alan made special orange frosting from scratch.

Happy Birthday, Jenny!

It was delicious.

Backyard campfire in March.

Alan studies the newly-reshaped pond in the creek.

We thought the patterns formed by the flowing water were neat.

Pi Day, 3-14. Pumpkin and brownie Pi.
