We arrived Friday afternoon at Jenny and David's apartment.
This is their back patio.
They took us to dinner at a great burger place, Kahuna Grill.
David had arranged for parking permits and with Mother's handicap placard, we
had a reserved space.
UCSB's family housing apartment complex. David qualifies
for this since he's a grad student and has a family - Jenny.
David and Jenny had gifted the boys with Dungeon Defenders for their Steam accounts. Now they could
play it together -- which they did, for hours, while Jenny took Mother and me to the Botanical Gardens.
We had to get our toes wet in the Pacific Ocean, so off to Goleta Beach to accomplish this objective.
We improvised a bucket by cutting off the top of a plastic water bottle.
Demolishing the hole with style.
Boat being towed in from the hoist, located in the middle of the pier.
Pelican cruising for fish.
spotted one!
Taking off again.
Occasional planes went overhead, taking off from the local airport.
I was just mesmerized by the pelicans -- this is just a sampling of the pictures I took.

We did a birthday dinner at the Ming Dynasty to celebrate Mother's 79th.
Happy Birthday, Mother! We waited until after 9pm (after midnight EDT) so it
would actually be her birthday, at least in Washington, DC where she was born
on July 29th.
The boys enjoyed yet more Dungeon Defenders.
Alan liked the scores he racked up.
He also likes his buddy, David.
Jenny is rightfully proud of 'Frankenstein', the functioning
laptop she created from two not-so-functioning ones.
Time to get moving in the morning.
Their Honda Civic Hybrid.
We ate lunch together at Taco Bell before hitting the road north to San Jose.
Jenny's hair glowed in the sunlight.
