This is just a few houses downstream of ours.
The creek is pretty dry this summer.
The people on Covewood are trying valiantly to preserve their slope.
Not sure what the black smudge in the water is. It was there
last year, too, and it sinks, so not an oil slick.
This is in the National Park, but we're still close to homes on Gatewood.
The waterfall was down to a trickle.
Water pops back to the surface in some stretches.
There's enough here to support minnows. Can you find at least six here?
And then we came to this mysterious cairn. We're not near anyone's yard; this is in the National Park.

It's been embellished with small objects, including a rat's skull and a painted on eyeball.
It's surrounded by a large circle of paving stones. The stones probably came from the creek.
Sometimes a tractor hits a tree. This time, a tree hit the tractor!

It's a Fordson. Not sure how old it is, but the tree may be 20-30 years old.
