Cartracks on our Lawn

On January 6th, sometime between Glen getting the paper in the morning, and retrieving the mail from the box late that afternoon, a car must have come up on our lawn, taken out a fruit tree, and hit the lamppost. We never heard it, and no one came to the door to apologize.

Kids were out of school that day because of windchill. Our best guess is a neighbor HS or college kid came down a driveway too fast and lost control. The police wondered if someone was mad at us, because it looked deliberate and hard to do on a cul-de-sac.

They came close to taking out the plum tree, too. The car must have brushed that cage, judging by the tracks.

Some of the blueberry bushes were pushed over, but they all seem to have more-or-less bounced back.

The stump of the pluot tree. It's cage ended up being just a ball of wire off to the side. We have since replaced it with another Flavor Supreme Pluot from the same nursery in CA.

The car came from the cul-de-sac, crossed our driveway, and went all the way to the lamppost near the garage. Then they must have reversed and pulled right back out.

Several days later, after the snow melted, you could see the tracks in the grass.

Driveways across the cul-de-sac.

There appear to be tracks in the grass behind the opposite mailbox. We guess the car came down that drive, jumped behind their mailbox to the other drive, and then flew across the road to our yard.
