Sam & Parker's visitChristmasSnow |
Using the new camera with my father's large lens and solar filter to photograph
the sun. Sunspots are definitely visible. The slight waviness in the upper right
is not a sun feature -- those are much closer, and not in focus, pine needles.
I successfully started several sequoia trees from seed.
Alan came upstairs from the basement and reported a bat. I thought he was kidding or
had found a baseball bat, but he made it clear it was the flying kind.
There it was, huddled near the ceiling.
Glen tried a couple methods of capturing it, and finally snagged it in a pillowcase.
Shaking it out of the pillowcase outside, off it flew!
German Club held a white-elephant exchange at their holiday party, so Alan crafted a
literal white elephant to accompany a token gift.
January 7th, Grandpa had a large tumor removed on the back of his head by his
dermatologist and then needed follow-up surgery with a plastic surgeon to
repair the hole.
Baby shower for Jen (and Joe). Beth and Megan came to town for the event, which
was held at the event center at the Cleveland Zoo.
Roger's physics project -- build a car powered by mousetraps. Here's a
video of a successful run.
a month behind schedule, a tulip finally blooms from the set I
was trying to force for a Christmas gift for Grandma.
Roger's drawing for art class of a hawk.
Happy Birthday, Alan!
Family gathering several days later to celebrate Alan's birthday.
Alan made a chocolate-raspberry cheesecake.
tiny giant sequoia
This picture doesn't quite capture how pretty the lights were, twinkling at dusk.
Happy Birthday, Jenny! We made a cake and took it over to Grandma & Grandpa's
to sing Happy Birthday to her.
notice the phone in the upper left. We have a fun/silly tradition of making a cake and then
calling Jenny to sing to her on her birthday.

Foggy afternoon.
