Glen fixes the dining room chair - the back spindles had detached.
Wednesday Mother treated us to lunch at Asbury's Cafe.
For dinner, we went to Wendy & Steve's home.
Pizza!
Wendy and Steve added custom toppings to the Costco cheese pizza, and Alan
assembled a cheeseless personal pizza.
Meanwhile, Mother works on the 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle.
Vanessa made deep-fried bananas for dessert - yum.
Thursday was Thanksgiving. We celebrated at Mother's villa.
But first, Mother had to open her Christmas/Thanksgiving gift from us - leftover containers!
Floyd Mauer, long-time family friend and now neighbor in the villas, joined us. He
shared bachelor quarters with Anne's father in the early 50's.
Dessert spread: pumpkin pie, chocolate-raspberry cheesecake by Alan, pecan pie,
and coconut cream custards and chocolate-walnut confections by Wendy.
And a chocolate cake for those who don't care for pie (Roger).
Friday we switched to Christmas and I played through a bunch of the carols in the hymnal.
Mother got out the tree with the candle lights - a gift from Lisa to her grandfather
after hearing him talk about having real candles on the tree when he was a child.
Alan looking festive for the occasion.
Wendy gave Mother this award-winning (County Fair) tatted doily.
Inflating Vanessa's new exercise ball.
Vanessa made more deep-fried bananas by request.
Saturday morning: Mother writes a check to clear her tab with me before we head out.
This is her typical work station when her house hasn't been invaded by Coopers.
Mother still enjoys the coffee mugs Sarah gave her and Granddad years ago.
One last high-five. We (mostly Wendy and me) had enjoyed high-fiving anything we could
agree on. It was even more fun because it tweaked the kids, especially Vanessa, to have us
be so silly.
