Windstorm

The night of November 5th, a freakish windstorm tore through our local area. It broke off many large trees at around 20 feet, uprooted others, pulled down large limbs, and scattered smaller branches all over. It was reported to be 'straight-line winds' with speeds in the 100 mph range.

We were very glad we'd already taken care of the oak trees by the house!

Starting with some whimsy, this oak branch was lodged high in a pine tree.

Large branches littered the ground in the backyard.

Neighbor Julie's backyard.

The antenna is still up!

Glen had mounted it very securely, but the winds did manage to twist the brackets. The pole had been vertical before the storm.

This not-quite-broken-entirely-off branch is hanging over the top of the steps.

The steps were covered.

After Glen got out a chainsaw and cleared debris off the steps.

The handrail is still up!

A large branch did break the top bracket off this post, but Glen was able to jury-rig a replacement later.

The big leaning sycamore came down. It stretched all the way from the creek to the bottom steps.

The top of the sycamore on the steps.

Large beech tree down in neighbor Ralph's yard.

yet another large tree down just across the creek.
