California Trip #1

Anne and Alan went to CA for 2 weeks in June.

Riverside with Lisa

Hubbell Family Reunion

Jenny & David

San Jose with Leóns

Heading out on Tuesday, June 13th.

We changed planes at Midway, and boarded Grandmother's direct flight to LAX. She'd boarded at BWI. We picked up dinner at the airport and brought it on the plane for her. Since she'd lost her briefcase going through TSA at BWI, she was glad to have something to eat. She didn't have her snacks, book, camera, and other items. Thankfully, the briefcase was eventually found, but Grandmother didn't get it back until a week after she was home.

Approaching Los Angeles.

Lisa picked us up at LAX and drove us to Santa Monica where Grandmother would be staying with Marilyn Hedges for a couple of nights. Lisa then drove Alan and Anne to her home in Riverside.

On Thursday, Lisa drove us back to Santa Monica to pick up Grandmother, visit a little with Marilyn, and then head south to Long Beach for the first Hubbell event, the HAH gathering at Rich & Colleen's home. Lisa and Alan then went back to Riverside for more sibling time and visiting museums while Anne and Grandmother went to the Queen Mary for the start of the Hubbell Reunion.

On Saturday, Lisa and Alan returned to Long Beach and picked up Anne from the Queen Mary. We met Lisa's good friends, Robyn and her parents, Karen and David Simenson for lunch at the Black Bear Diner.

Tuesday, after the Hubbell Reunion wrapped up, Lisa drove us all to the Dollar Rental Car place near LAX to pick up our mode of transportation for the next leg of the trip. We had to say goodbye to Lisa at this point and she took off back to Riverside. Alan, Anne, and Grandmother took the scenic route up the coast, including the famous California Incline in Santa Monica that drops you down from the cliff height onto the Pacific Coast Highway.

We met the Chagis at Arby's in Thousand Oaks for lunch and then went back to their home for a bit more visiting.

Back on the road that afternoon, heading up the 101. Nice views of the Pacific.

Wednesday morning, after a brief, but fun time visiting with
Jenny & David in Goleta, we got back on the 101 for the drive north to San Jose.
