Hikes

Presque Isle, Erie, PA: August 25th

This park on the edge of Lake Erie, has a Perry Monument.

The monument celebrates the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. The bay formed by this curving pennisula sheltered Commodore Perry's fleet, and is still a Coast Guard station.

Don't Give Up The Ship!

One form of water transportation here is this tourboat.

Or perhaps a Great Lakes freighter.

Or this replica of The Niagara, a ship that served as a flagship for Perry. It's used for sailing lessons and you can book a trip as a student.

We also spotted this other old-style vessel.
