Thanksgiving in Gaithersburg

While Glen went to California for business and then stayed over for Thanksgiving in San Jose, Anne, Roger, and Alan went to Maryland for the holiday.

As is now traditional, we went to the Carballo home for pizza and games Wednesday night.




Wendy chose do-it-yourself pizza this year, so we all got to assemble our own.




We got to meet the new cat, Helios.

Thursday we were back at the villa for the official Thanksgiving feast.




Mother's china. It was purchased for her by her mother, from some of Grandmother Norford's own earnings at Lansburg's Department Store in DC. Grandmother Norford had gone to work there after her kids left home, over the objection of her husband, and really enjoyed that independence and the ability to buy special things.



















Vanessa is excited to open a family gift of homemade applesauce and rhubarb sauce. She had asked the day before if we'd brought any along, and was disappointed to be told no.

Back at the Carballos on Friday for leftovers and more games. Jenga was quite a challenge!

It was Wendy's turn to keep the results of the spin and weave team competition at the fair. She and her team made this shawl in just a few hours.




Of course, there had to be at least one jigsaw puzzle!




Heading home on Saturday. The drive between Hancock and Breezewood was a bit icy.

and there it is. visibility was okay for driving, but clearly not great.
