Visit with Jenny & David in Denville, NJ

We took advantage of the short overlap of Roger and Alan's respective Spring Breaks and hit the road to Denville to see the new house. ... and Jenny and David.

I-80 got a bit foggy going through eastern Pennsylvania.

This shelf of helmets offered for sale at a TA Travel Center (truck stop) amused me.

The Delaware Water Gap means we're crossing into New Jersey and getting close. Jenny and David made tacos for us for dinner once we got there.

The next morning we had a chance to look around in the daylight. David has the dogs outside for a bit while Jenny went to the bakery for fresh bagels for breakfast.

there was still a pile of snow by the end of their driveway where the plows had pushed it.

That's their mailbox as we look down the street.

Jenny's back with the bagels.

the deck that goes around 2 side of the house. They added the fence beyond it to give the dogs an off-leash area.

Glen may be standing near the edge of their property. Some of the hillside is greenspace, not private property.

this great room flows together with the kitchen

Fluxx at the fancy game table.

Karma is ignoring us.

The table has a smooth wooden top (not shown here) that fits over this playing surface when you want to have dinner. There are shallow drawers to hold cards, chips, or other paraphenalia, and detachable cup holders that slide into place on the sides.

lake access for canoes/kayaks, with racks for storage. This is just a few houses down the street from them.

A tree came down during one of the snowstorms, and now blocks the waterway.

Designated green space in their neighborhood. We took a rambling walk with Karma.

This is the pedestrian bridge at the intersection of the main road (Route 46) and Franklin.

Looking back in the direction of the neighborhood, down Franklin.

David's office is walking distance down this main road.

Circling back towards the house, we walked down Franklin and saw one of the beaches they have access to as part of this community.

Almost back to the house.

Pitchcar works well on the game table.

The Cattans at home. Note the pictures on the wall, a set of enhanced paint-by-numbers done in the 1960s by Grandmother.

View of the other side of the larger lake. the beach off Franklin is on the other side.

Another view from further around. You can see the low bridge to the island.

Stately swan, and then not so stately!

Jane, Chris, and Jamie came over Saturday afternoon and we introduced them to PitchCar.

Roger, David, and Jamie play "Dark Souls, the boardgame".

Time for pizza! Lauren's girlfriend Becca carefully buckled it in for the ride to the house.

Shelly, Kevin, Lauren, and Becca joined us for pizza and then a special dessert in honor of Roger's birthday.

Roger's birthday was Sunday, but since that would be a travel day, we celebrated Saturday instead. Jenny got him a mint and chip ice cream cake. She'd also made sure he had brownies to feast on all weekend.

Ready to hit the road. The cartop "Roof Bag" is back in place.

Leaving New Jersey: the Delaware Water Gap.

Watch out for Rudolph!

We made one last rest stop, just half an hour from home. And noticed a part hanging down more than it should under the engine.

Glen managed to juryrig a fix to get us home. He cut a piece of rope to tie the shield back in place. Once home, he ordered the proper fasteners and installed them. We're guessing that the part wasn't properly reattached by the workers at Midas after they worked on the car the day before we left for NJ.
