New Jersey in March

We took a 3-day weekend at the end of Roger and Alan's Spring break to zip over to see Lily (and her parents).

Getting there turned out to be tricky. First, Alan was called for jury duty, so we weren't sure he'd be available to go. But he was dismissed early in the week after being called for a jury, and then a mistrial being declared.

We were planning to leave after lunch on Thursday, but Glen ended up with a client issue crisis at work that had to be resolved. He and Jim Zuber were working like crazy to fix the problem, but by 3pm they still didn't have it. Roger had to be in Denville on Friday since David had set up a chance for him to talk with people at Haverly (where David works) about a possible summer internship. So we took Glen's duffle out of the car and Anne drove the boys to NJ.

By 6pm, Glen and Jim had solved the problem. Jim authorized Glen to spend company funds buying a plane ticket from CLE to Newark. Glen got to fly first-class, arriving in Newark before 10pm. David picked him up at the airport and got him back to the house 5 minutes before the rest of us drove up and pulled into the garage.

Friday Beth & John and Shelly joined us for pizza for lunch.

Anne got lots of sleeping-baby time.

sideyard and hillside, much of which is theirs.

Saturday, Jane & Chris brought over a smoker and a turkey.

It was a day early, but we marked the occasion of Roger's 21st birthday by attempting to create a fiery shotglass of ??. Wasn't quite alcoholic enough to catch fire, but the idea was fun. Jenny had made brownies for Roger, of course.

Lily really likes this music/lights playmat.

And then Glen drove us home Sunday. The closer we got to Ohio, the more snow we got.

Coming up Gatewood.

Home. Quite a bit of snow for March 31st.
