Lily's first visit to a National Park!
We checked out the new visitor center at Boston Mill. They spent
the last year renovating a vintage building right next to the river and the tracks.
While the exhibits were nice, I missed some of the old ones that had been on display
in the previous building, such as tools used to dig the canal, and craft the
barges, and an example of how round timber cut to yield different
sizes of rectangular lumber, all fitting together like a tangram puzzle.
Then we crossed the river and took a short stroll on the towpath.
We even spotted a heron fishing in the riffles under the bridge.
The towpath is also an excellent place to find Pokemon.
The kids humored me and re-enacted 'Pooh Sticks' despite a lack
of water flowing under the bridge.
Lily really enjoyed this model canal barge.

Striking tree, and skyline.
