Freys in Pennsylvania

Our first stop was with Beth & John in Allentown. We stayed two nights and enjoyed several hiking expeditions with them.

Steven lives less than an hour away -- we were happy to be able to visit with him, too.

Beth thought we'd enjoy Trexler Nature Preserve, around 1/2 hour away. She was right.

Yes, that's a fox!

Jordan Creek runs through the Preserve, and looks eminently wadeable in warm weather.

We hiked along one side of the creek, crossed at the covered bridge, and then followed the creek back upstream on the other side.

Some previous hiker had made a set of clay figurines and left them for others to enjoy.

Beth drove across the ford, and on to the next surprise.

Bison! They have a protected herd here. Also elk, but we didn't get as good a view of those.

Beth suggested this wildlife sanctuary the next day. It was even closer to their home.

Moss, close-up

We even spotted a snake.
